Forget the wingtip lobbyists. The really powerbrokers are those who wield white athletic towels.

CA appears likely to retain its coveted towel service at the athletic clubs, according to the Sun's ExploreHoward blog.

Towel service at Columbia Association gyms appears to be salvaged, as is a coveted community organizer in Oakland Mills, based on tentative, straw votes taken by CA board members Monday night.

Charitable giving by the association, however, likely will be cut by more than 20 percent.

Board members discussed those issues and others at a four-hour work session Feb. 22 in preparation for taking an official vote Wednesday on the nonprofit’s spending plan for the coming year.
