Just wondering if you know what happened to the AMC Theater at Columbia mall on Thursday evening. We went to see Avatar at 5:20, and it was closed. Many signs were posted stating they had to closed due to potential hazard to customers. With that big flat roof, I was curious...

All we know if what HoCoMoJo posted:

Rumor of roof collapse at AMC theaters at Columbia Mall not true. They're clearing snow, hoping to be open today. #hocosnow #fb

This is not an official statement of any agency.

I have been monitoring Howard County Fire for some time, including throughout the storms.

Howard County Fire & Rescue did respond to the Columbia Mall, as well as the movie theater at the Mall, for investigations of a possible roof collapse. Inspectors from the County's Inspections, Licenses and Permits evaluated the structures.

However, I do not know the result of these inspections. My suspicion (unconfirmed, of course) is that the structures were found to be structurally sound and we allowed to be re-occupied.

I will post more as I find, and confirm, facts at http://howardfire.net
